Fresh, Fit Eats: Where to Find Healthy Food in Waikiki

Happy New Year! It's January, a time for resolutions and setting up healthy habits for 2024. Even while on vacation in Hawaiʻi, you can stick to your goals and stay active with the abundant variety of locally-grown ingredients and endless outdoor activities. We've rounded up a list of our favorite dishes, including tropical produce, light bites, and vegan delights – all within walking (or jogging) distance from Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk.

Poke Bowl
A staple in Hawaiʻi, a poke bowl is traditionally served with white rice topped with cubes of raw ahi mixed with onions, soy sauce and seaweed. At Poké Bar, customize your own bowl with a vibrant array of protein, starch and vegetable options - making for a truly personalized creation. The portable meal means you can take it to the beach for an impromptu picnic!

Fresh Produce
Pineapples, coconuts, papaya – yes, please! Discover island tastes, fresh fruits and vegetables, and local favorites at the nearby farmers' markets. On Mondays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., browse a variety of food, arts & crafts, and souvenir vendors at the Waikiki Beach Walk Farmers' Market, located just outside the hotel. For a dizzying selection from approximately 100 vendors, venture just outside of Waikiki to the bustling KCC Farmers' Market on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Açai Bowl
Call it breakfast, lunch or a snack, the açai bowl at Nalu Health Bar & Café will satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt. Pure organic açai (not mixed with other fruit) is topped with bananas, strawberries, blueberries, bee pollen, granola and honey. We recommend adding the optional shredded coconut!

Plant-Based French Fare
If you want a special night out in Waikiki, make a reservation at natuRe Waikiki. This fine dining, farm to table restaurant will wow you with its creative six-course vegan menu highlighting local ingredients from sustainable sources.

Local Breakfast
Salad for breakfast? Trust us, Heavenly Island Lifestyle will make you crave their locally-grown kale, fresh juice, and açai bowls. We also love their healthy take on Hawaiʻi's beloved comfort food dish, the Loco Moco, crafted with local beef, local eggs, lentils and black beans.

‘Nice' Cream
Make a beeline to Banán for non-dairy, no added sugar soft serve ice cream made from bananas. It's as healthy as it is visually appealing, making for mandatory social media posts before diving in with a spoon. How will you choose with flavors like strawberry lilikoi (passion fruit), chocolate haupia (coconut), and chocolate PB&J?!

Poolside Platter
For light bites by the pool at Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk, order the PAKINI Petite Platter from our Pakini Bar. This artful array of cheese, crackers, and sliced, fresh tropical fruits is just the thing to share and munch on while sunbathing under the Hawaiian sunshine.
