State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) Artistic Teaching Partner Fellow Bonnie Kim and visiting artist Nam-Reyoung-Kim will give a presentation, followed by a question and answer session. Korean-American artist, Bonnie Kim will share her various puppetry works, especially ones that integrate Korean elements and themes. At this informal presentation, a visiting Korean artist, Nam-Reyoung Kim will also play the haegeum, a traditional Korean string instrument. Bonnie Kim and Nam-Reyoung Kim will share their multidisciplinary collaborative work-in-progress, "Back to the Roots" with shadow puppetry & video and Korean music. This experimental collaboration explores the various elements of traditional Korean rituals to express meanings and memories of life and death through object & shadow theater, video, and live music & sound.
