Ho, Ho, Ho Holiday Checklist: Festive Fun in Waikiki

With warm trade wind breezes, turquoise water and tropical foliage, the holidays in Hawai‘i may seem different, but trust us, that's a good thing! Spending the yuletide season in Waikiki at Embassy Suites Waikiki is full of island-inspired holiday fun for all, whether you've been naughty or nice! Add these unique only-in-Hawai‘i experiences to your wish list and make this a Christmas you'll never forget.

‘Tis the Season to be Trolley
Hop on the Waikiki Trolley, an open-air, double decker bus, for a holiday lights tour through historic downtown Honolulu to view the Honolulu City Lights at Honolulu Hale. Take photos with the Shaka Santa and Tutu Mele statues as they cool their feet off in the fountain at city hall. Gaze at the city's 50-foot, locally grown Christmas tree and wander through the festive outdoor displays, no coat required!

Snap a Selfie with Santa
On Wednesdays and Saturdays in December, walk over to Royal Hawaiian Center, a block from Embassy Suites Waikiki, for a photo with Saint Nick. And you'll be jolly to hear, that it's free! Hot tip: if you have kids in tow, visit on a Saturday when fairytale characters will also be onsite.

Sea a Christmas Display
What do you get when you mix LEGO + Aquarium + Holidays? A cool, crafty LEGO Christmas display from the LEGO Enthusiasts Association of Hawai‘i! Check out the bricks all month long at the Waikiki Aquarium. Think: scuba diver with a Santa hat surrounded by a sea of fish, all made with LEGO!

Sing Carols with Local Musicians
Score tickets to an evening at a supper club with live holiday music at Blue Note Hawai‘i. Every seat is a great seat at this intimate venue where you'll dine on steak and sip martinis. Catch Paula Fuga's show, "Home for the Holidays" on December 17 and 18, or ‘ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro's "Christmas in Hawai‘i" playing December 19-21.
